ㅤBIOGRAPHYㅤㅤMeeting an introverted feline isn't all that unusual when it comes to cat behavior. Even as a cat, prowling silently around his pharaoh's courts, Seth knew that socialization was not for him. Cripplingly shy, the pharaoh's countless parties made him want to collapse in on himself, constantly spiking his anxiety, leaving him exhausted for days after, sulking in his luxurious bed. Though he adored the life he had in Old Egypt, Seth never adjusted to the glitz and glamour of social...niceties.With the collapse of the old kingdom to Roman rule, the Goddess gave him a new life as a man, allowing him to walk upright amongst humans. Yet Seth still struggled to find a place he belonged; a place that felt like home. As he wandered the world, watching it grow and change, he longed for what had been. For the family, friends, and life forever lost to the sands of time. Change did not come easily for the Bast, and things only got worse as human innovation boomed. The population continued to grow; once-quiet places became noisy and overcrowded. Seeking shelter from it all, Seth bought himself land in what is now modern-day Bonghwa-gun. No matter how the cities boomed and blossomed around him, the Bast stubbornly protected his land, keeping away anyone who dared to come close. For nearly a millennium he lived in complete isolation, self-reliant on his farm. The villagers around him gossiped about the strange man who time never touched, always trying to catch a glimpse of him when possible. In time, they came to revere Seth as a god, building a shrine at the edge of his property and praying to him for good harvests and safety. Embarrassed and annoyed, Seth pretended he could not see or hear their absurd displays. Still, he was not against visiting their homes in the secrecy of the night to heal a sickly child or leave some of his bountiful harvests for those in need.Time passed this way, with Seth seeing a world change around him, but not for him. He still lived without power or running water, relying on his old well and the old ways. He was content to live forever like that, and would have remained so until the day he arrived. Like the wind he was made of, he swept into Seth's life, disrupting everything. He ignored the boundaries between them, physical and emotional, breaking down walls that had been built up over decades as if they were made of paper. Overwhelmed by a need not to be alone anymore, Seth let him in and made the best, and worst, mistake of his life.Falling in love with a sylph was all too easy; holding onto them, though? Not so much. Their love was like being caught inside a whirlwind. Passionate, wild, and at times, all-consuming. To Seth, alone for thousands of years, their relationship meant everything. It was a spark of purpose that had been otherwise absent in his existence. He poured everything into giving them whatever they desired, wanting to make a life together that would last until the stars died in the skies above.Years passed, and with time came another new, unforeseen change: pregnancy. Though apprehensive about becoming a father, Seth was eager: happy to have a family and a life built on the foundations of joy. The happiness he felt, however, was short-lived. His beloved sylph did not see their pregnancy and the future the way Seth did. Far younger and far less ready to settle down, they fled shortly after their daughter's birth, abandoning Seth and Cleo during the night. The loss of them was a torture that Seth had never known before. Left alone with a child he knew nothing about raising, in a home that now felt alien to him, he made the painful choice to leave behind his own comfort for Cleo's sake. The city was frightening and new, but it would give her a chance for an education that he could not provide alone. Technology was gibberish to him, and money was confusing and annoying. Everything about city life disheartened Seth, but he pushed through for his daughter's sake, wanting to give her a proper childhood. As he began to build a new life in Seoul, his broken heart cast out the idea of love or friendship, leaving him unready to trust others again.
